Hack, why do I have to pay to watch video streaming when there is free WIFI around. Finally gotten my streaming player to work with WIFI, after some testing.
Now i could watch Youtube for free 
To configure the streaming player to make use of WIFI by default,
go to menu > options.
Choose 'The Internet' for the Connect via drop down list.
Next, take note of the port range, and the transport protocol. The default values should be 6970 to 32000 and automatic transport. These are the port numbers and protocol you must enabled in your wireless router. Make sure the numbers match, otherwise the player will not be able to receive the video stream!
P.S. You do not need the whole range of ports for streaming, basically i have reduced it to 6970 - 6975. Have not experience any lag on the streaming so far.

We have been trying to get ours working, Samsung have now told us the phone cannot do it! after telling us to try a new router, which we have, we have settings as you state in phone but not sure about the router, youtube plays perfectly on the old imate jasjam we have, through wifi, so would that suggest the router settings are ok.

may i know which version of omnia are you using? There's a software by the name of 'Streaming Player' in the programs folder. It is not windows media player nor touch player. This software will be launched when you are watching youtube in the mobile version.

i couldnt help you much on that as i'm not using a linksys router myself..
probably its under some wireless or firewall setting
i do what you said but still whwn i start opening utube using wifi it connect to the GPRS.

Have you configured your router to port forward those ports to your omnia ip address?
I believe you have no problem surfing the net with wifi?

Thanks for the tip, man. Problem solved. Tested on Trendnet and Linksys routers forwarding only 6970 to 6975 TCP/UDP ports.

You could check out the volume settings if they are muted by pressing the volume key. Do check that both the phone volume and system volume are not muted
